The ladies from the events team at SpoonFed Talks are back following their Summer break with their latest talk "The Secret To Being A Super Mum & Loving Your Motherhood" with Jessica Founder of the SuperMum Society
I remember from my own experiences back in the early days of being a new mum, at first I had it all together or so I thought. Then I became that Mum who was feeling like a complete failure inside trying to keep on top of everything, trying to hold it all together, trying to run a business, trying to raise a baby, trying to be that "Super Mum" you know her, the one that manages to put make up on and always be immaculately dressed.
Well now you can be. Jessica gave a frank and honest account of her own experiences being a first time mum, the scare mongering horror stories people would so very often been overly keen to share (we all have THAT friend too) Life will never be the same we are told, and that's true but it doesn't mean it all has to end right there and then. Having a baby for me was the most empowering thing I have ever done as a person as a woman. It took me some time to get my head around it all and realise that after a brief sense of lose, losing myself was also a part of the journey of motherhood. Only to be reborn into a much stronger wiser person.
It was really interesting listening to Jessica's journey which in some parts very much mirrored my own. She gave out lots of advice on creating your own values, priorities, goals, finding your tribe, dealing with toxic noise, enjoying motherhood and most of all... Having it all.
As part of this event I teamed up with Founder of The Birth of Mum Kaya George. Her business focusses on self care in motherhood and giving yourself back a little me time. It's a monthly subscription box with specially designed quests, along with three or more beautiful and carefully selected lifestyle products aimed to help you make self-care a priority. In conjunction with my very own project 'Something for the Mamas' which is all about empowering mums, showing gratitude and appreciation and acknowledging how hard this job this and that we are all in it together. And so together Kaya and I we were offering mums the chance to nominate a mum-friend who they felt deserved a little gift of self care in doing so they too were automatically entered into a prize draw on the day to win a small gift of self care. The winner was announced on my Instagram page.
