Had a bit of a scare today which saw us rushing off to Hospital having baby checked over. For 2 days now I hadn't felt much movement from a usually very over active baby. It's one of those scenarios where you find yourself questioning yourself. Have I felt movement? Have I even considered or registered that baby hasn't moved?. Most babies are pretty active when mum gets into bed of an evening settles onto her comfy pillow all wrapped up and snug in her quilt then hey presto baby has other plans that include somersaults, backflips and all that jazz!
Still, as unwelcome a time of evening it is, you enjoy those moments as thats when you really get to tune into your baby after such a busy day where your focus has been on a million other things. But, for me this hadn't been happening across two days and undeniable fear had started to creep in. So I bit the bullet and phoned the hospital and spoke with one of the midwifes who advised me in a no uncertain terms to head straight to the hospital so baby's heart beat and movements could be checked. I'm not sure if it was her urgent tone or the words she used but hearing this reality kicked in big time and fear had all but taken over, there were tears but the OH was good and kept calm which helped me to stay positive. Thankfully the happy ending to this story is that baby is fine, so fine in fact impressively performing quite a few somersaults in the time I was strapped up to the monitor. I think thats what they call the Law of Sod... or whatever... One truly relieved if not slightly exhausted Mummy and Daddy!
So I just wanted to share with you some pictures that the OH took a few weeks back of me n little bump back then (not so little now!) I just wanted to take some time to appreciate this little miracle inside of me and share these precious moments and I guess the moral of the story is no matter how neurotic you think your being and I rate myself as a pretty easy going person and great at 'keeping my head whilst all around others are losing theirs' pregnancy will do funny things to your once oh so calming nature, but the point is you can never be too safe so to put your mind at rest make sure you get these things checked out, regardless!
