Hello world! it's been that long since my last post that I feel much has happened since. First off we welcomed the winter for a start (boo!) we welcomed the festive season (Yay!) and we welcomed the news of a little one on it's way... (eek!)
You never really know how you're going to feel when you fall pregnant. Every woman is different, I had a friend once tell me that she knew instantly and when I say instant I mean the moment biology of the human reproductive system took place. How is this possible?! For me I had absolutely NO IDEA! Not until the penny dropped when I realised that I was potentially a few days late - oops! It's one of those small details in my world that goes onto my list of 'I'll get round to that at some point' and that moment abruptly happened as I was rushing off out the door on my way to work ... AH! light bulb moment followed swiftly by some under breath cursing having to run back up two flights of stairs.
The inevitable was staring right back at me, a curiously small plastic instrument with two undeniably bold red lines. Hmm interesting...! The rest of the journey to work was a blur after that, driving in my car reaching for my non existent bump and saying out loud 'I'm going to be a mum' over and over... just to be sure it would sink in.
Two days later I decided it was time to share the news with the other half, I had put it off for a few reasons, not because I thought he'd have a nervous breakdown or anything. No, nothing as dramatic as that. After all we're both the other side of 40 (almost for me) so it's not like we're a pair of kids playing house. I simply wanted the moment to be special and memorable, so I wrapped the test into a box big enough to hold a pair of shoes and presented the gift as 'a little something to put a smile on your face after a long week at work' sat back admiring my genius and patiently waited until the look of confusion faded and that knowing grin crept over his face.
(I should point out that the picture in this post has not been enhanced in any way (lol) this is Mikee's idea of trying to out do me in the 'bump' dept.)
So, not one to be known for doing things by half, or by the book for that matter (how ungodly boring would that be!) 2016 will bring the pitter patter of tiny feet and I cannot wait, my camera will be on overdrive, I'll need to invest in more hard drives and no doubt I'll turn into one of those crazed mothers that has to announce to Facebook every time their child so much as hiccups!!
Apologies in advance...!
But for now... It's just You (Mikee) bump and me, which makes a soon to be 3!
